Onboard NIC and PCIe NIC card troubleshooting was created by swalts
Hello All,
I seem to be in a world of.. well trouble.
I am trying to talk with my Mesa 7i96 with the latest -rt build (2.8).
Here is the trouble. Linuxcnc will only let me have 1 NIC card.
I have changed network managers at least i think i did. Still no second card.
lspci -vv shows 2 ethernet adapters. 1 gigabit and 1 realtek.
I am not able to find it using network manager tools.
Thank you all for your help.
Respectfully,
swalts

What does:
dmesg | grep -i eth

after some research, it appears that linux "in general" has problems with Realtek network drivers.
The solution, at least for my issue was:
Go buy 2 different variety of intel based network cards.
Both are installed and are properly working... By the way I can talk with my mesa 7i96 and type this on the internet at the same time. Running ping in background on the mesa card.
WOOOOWHOOOO!!!!!!
Now i have to go back and work on my other problems. LOL but things are looking up.
PCW, thank you for the reply. We can consider this subject solved for me.
