OK if stepconf works, that suggests a hal/ini fil issue
I do see one thing wrong in the hal file:
You have the parallel port writes out-of-order:
addf parport.0.write base-thread
addf parport.0.reset base-thread
Should be the last addfs in the hal file

Thanks for the suggestion, i have updated that but unfortunately no dice.
Could it maybe be something related to the GUI that is causing it?

OK did you do the "motion while moving windows around" test?
BTW the addf sequence may not have fixed your particular issue
but it must be in that order

Yeah I tried loading up as much stuff as I could and moving windows around rapidly etc, whilst doing this I had base period open on the HAL Meter and it didn't seem to have any adverse affect - if any at all, same with servo period.
Everything I have in the HAL and in are just from stepconf, I have altered values but not added or removed anything custom iirc.

Run some simple gcode to move the machine from one side to the other.
If that is happening while jogging it might be an keyboard/bios.

It does it when running gcode and also when jogging manually
Ive literally read every lost steps thread on LinuxCNC i think haha.
I do have a Touchscreen Monitor on the PC but i had the problem before i added this.
I think its so bizarre it works perfectly fine on stepconf but not once i actually load into LinuxCNC.
I have alot of Spare PC's here i could test but none have a Parallel Port lol. Ill try and get another video tomorrow.
The only setting i could really see from the GUI that i thought maybe could affect performance, was i think the refresh rate of the gui?? Maybe i should try changing this from 0.1 or whatever its set to, to 1 - 2.

Is there a way to test all 3 Axis simultaneously through stepconf?

Or you can use the "calibration" from the "machine" menu in LinuxCNC.

Nope, but you can save it and test and open and edit again in stepconf. Is there a way to test all 3 Axis simultaneously through stepconf?

AARRGGG I finally fixed it.
Whatever this line, and wherever it came from, I don't know.
Setp parport.0.pin-xx-out-reset-1
As soon as that was gone my troubles are fixed, I ran a new config fresh from Stepconf and this was the only difference I could find.
Machine is running great now and buttery smooth again. Just a shame I wasted nearly a whole week on this.
Thanks again all for your help it's greatly appreciated.

Glad you fixed it. But I think that line was not in the hal file you posted.
Now you can get on with your life
