Hi all
I know I am missing some thing really simple but I've been trying for days to wire this thing up. A 3 axis router with a rotary axis attachment. Every time I test it with Stepconfig the motors only seem rotate in one direction, and I can't for the life of me figure out what is wrong.

I have a combination of M60STH88-3008DF and FL86STH156-4208A-H steppers, all 8 wire motors.
4 x MSD 542 micro stepper drivers and one of these BOBs: ukcnc.net/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=93

Thanks for any help

Is the rotation in the working direction smooth ? Well smooth as can be with steppers, of course.
How is the direction part wired to the drives?
Is the signalling wired for +5V common or GND common?
Take some pictures of the wiring and post them here, not on third party websites .

Thanks for replying.
Yes, the steppers seem to be smooth. Sorry, but I can't answer your questions about +5 v common or ground (you are talking to a simple woodworker here).
I have attached photos and a diagram (drawn with my own fair mouse) of how it is at the moment.
Thanks again. Hoping you can help some more

I don't think you have the BOB correctly connected to the drives.
Since I was unable to get a manual for your BOB I can only guess:
XE = X - Enable
XS = X - Step
XD = X - Direction
XN = X - Negative

As a side note:
It's better to mount the drives vertically. The way you have them is suboptimal for cooling.

Thanks for your getting back to me, but if I knew how to fix the wiring I would.
Any chance of just a tiny little clue?
I have attached the docs for the breakout board

Hi,
your wiring is not correct. I found this for example.
www.hobbycncaustralia.com.au/Instructions/iI73JK02ToDIV268N.htm
It looks like your bob.
Do it like Aciera wrote:
XS => Pull +
XN => Pull -
XD => Dir +
XN => Dir -
Enable Signal
XE => ENA+
XN => ENA-
Without guaranty.

Thanks very much for this. It looks promising and I will try it as soon as I get some time.
