Extra / Additional LPT inputs was created by rider-83
Once I have used up all the available input pins on my current LPT port, what are my options for more?
Is it as simple as adding an extra port (LPT2) via a PCI bus card, or are there other methods?
A parallel has only five inputs. How do we obatin more, if at all?
Nick.

A parallel port has only 5 Inputs when driven in output mode. When configuring as input you have 14 inputs available: linuxcnc.org/docs/html/hal/parallel-port.html.
Installing a second parallel port is quite an easy method of expanding your I/Os.
But there are also other possibilities...

Parallel port set to X mode can have 8 out and 9 in pins.
Not all parallel ports can do that.
