Hi everyone,
Just to give you a little context, I currently I have a 4' by 6' plasma table with Gecko540, UC300eth_5lpt, C10-D i/o expansion board from CNC4 PC and a Neuron Simplicity THC with UCCNC software. Everything works fine except the THC.
It's time for a change. I would like to try LinuxCNC and PlasmaC. Can the THCAD-10 and THCAD-5 be used with my setup without investing in a Mesa 7I76E card?

Possibly, if the software encoder can count the pulses fast enough.
" The THCAD has a frequency output range of approximately 100 KHz to 1 MHz. T his can be counted directly by our FPGA cards for conversion to voltage value. The frequency output can optionally be divided by 32, 64 or 128 if the output must be counted in software."
So if your hardware can manage a 1MHz / 128 = 8kHz base thread then you should be OK.

UC300eth_5lpt
will not work with LinuxCNC as far as i can tell.
