halviewer, go or no go? was created by Grotius
Hi,
Accidentely i am building a halviewer. It interacts with hal on c and c++ level.
I had a few things to solve in c++ to get it running with the axis template gui.
This is a first preview of the program.
Red=bit off value
Green=bit on value
Orange=float value
Grey=To code, not finihed.
I was wondering. We could also set halpins, paramters, etc.
What would be a big improvement to the existing halshow?

Hi Tom,
Can you think about what would be a mayor improvement for existing the halshow program?
For example it could be :
- a logger
- a curve printer
- etc.
Maybe you have a idea?

Sorry Groti, but i am way to tired to think about anything and will be so for 4 to 8 days more, trying to finish and install and paint and fix and setup ... everything in the new shop while getting another machine ready as it got sold last week. As luck would have it the guy wanted the one that takes most time to get ready!
I will for sure report if by any chance something runs through my mushy brain !

Hi Tom,
Take your time. Succes with your new shop !
I integrated a treeview beside the tableview.
Most of the code is completed now. Have to do the "functions'.
You see in the middle there is space left.
Possible addon's :
- Maybe add a halscope there?
- Or a s-curve motion profile tester?
- Or a hal config builder?

Graphical representation of the whole hal tree
(That might be difficult, though it has been done in Rockhopper, for example)

Hi Tom,
Yes a scope is nice !
Hi Andy,
A halgraph or visual hal representation could be nice !
I don't have a clue how to add the arrow lines between items.
In general, i can try a new approach in 3d. This is more interesting for me to set up then a 2d graph.
For example to visulalize the standard axis gui, it has 18 components, 774 pins, 69 parameters, etc running
This is a huge ammount of data. It's almost a neural network.
Then we could integrate a 3d halscope with the same viewer. This can be quite interesting to see what happens.
Ok i will make a test today.

One great improvement would be the last search or last view function. and if the pins including pvcp are already pre-sorted in an axis view. then with little search you would have an overview of every axis or spindle.
