Is it OK to have odd numbers of pockets on ATC was created by Clive S
As the title: Is it OK to have odd numbers of pockets on ATC
I am making an ATC carousel and the biggest number I can fit is 15
I have only ever seen even numbers is there a reason for that ?

I Had with 8 and 12 and 16, so it does not matter.

Thanks. But is there a reason why you don't see odd pockets numbers ie 13-15 -17

Very funny
I have been told that there might be an issue with odd numbers of pockets.
There is a reason for me to have 15 and not 16 I could have 14 but I want to squeeze the extra one in.
With 16 on the disc the tools foul the mill column and clears with 15

I really do not think it has anything to do with anything, humans like even numbers, well except number 3 !

Not that I know of. But if you are building a tool coreousel with pocket position sensors then with 4 sensors you can have 16 pockets. Only having 15 pockets feels wasteful. And if you wanted 17 pockets then you would need 5 sensors, but only a single pocket would activate that sensor.
If you have a good reason to only have 15 pockets, then there is no reason to expect it to cause problems.

I will start a new post for help with the ATC
I am building my version of this ATC for PathPilot www.cnczone.com/forums/tormach-personal-.../417676-tormach.html
There is only two sensors to home the disc and the retract from the spindle. This use a Pye board that will emulate the Tormach usb board.
This is a link to what I have so far: photos.app.goo.gl/zwF3agZBmtnFT9gY8 I have fitted the index homing sensor (not shown)
The disc is a bit of a mess as I have drilled it 3 times 14 then 16 and now 15 pockets. I will clean it up
I am not sure if PP will show the 15 pockets I know it does 8 and 10
I do appreciate your comments. Thanks
