I am new to LInuxCNC. I am converting a mini-mill to CNC as a proof of concept with an eye toward building a CNC plasma table in the future. I am running LinuxCNC on an Odroid H+ with a 7i96 and 3 DM542T stepper drivers. Linux is installed, the 7i96 is talking to the OS and I am able to run PnCConf. When I run LinuxCNC, my end stops trigger appropriately and the ESTOP appears to function which suggests to me that I am at least on the right track with the 7i96 config. However, when I enable, I get no stepper motion when I manually jog. The steppers are holding. I know I must be missing something, but after combing though these forums, I am stuck.

I have attached my .hal and .ini. I am hoping you guys can steer me back on track.

How are the drives wired to the 7I96s step/dir pins?

7i96 Step + > DM542T Step +
7i96 Step - > DM542T Step -
7i96 Dir + > DM542T Dir +
7i96 Dir - > DM542T Dir -

I would try single ended connections

7i96 +5 > DM542T Step +
7i96 Step - > DM542T Step -
7i96 +5 > DM542T Dir +
7i96 Dir- > DM542T Dir -

And invert the step polarity in hal

Thanks much. This set me on the path. This plus other excellent posts got me making chips. I have a ton to learn, but the machine is running.
