I have built my own CNC and I'm using the 6i25 (PCIe) card connected to a single 7i76. I have not changed the 6i25 from the default config it came with so I'm assuming the configuration should be the same as the 5i25. I initially configured the machine to run and set everything up and it worked but I noticed a few wiring faults and the like as well as I realised I hadn't tuned the stepper driver parameters.

When I went back into pncconf I inadvertently wiped the original config so started from scratch again. When I originally ran the pncconf I was certain that the board option was a 5i25. But that didn't seem to be in the options so I selected the 5i25 Internal Data + one 7i76. But when I went to the IO section the step generators seemed to be defined on the wrong 7i76 connector (P3 in the IO3 tab in the config) when they're presented on TB2. Clearly I have done something differently and the resulting configuration doesn't drive the steppers any more. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Does P3 refer to the IO connector on the 6i25 board in which case I guess that makes sense and I guess I have mis-remembered what I did the first time... but I still can't quite see why it doesn't work.

Thanks and I hope that all makes some sense

Nick

Yes, P3 is the DB25 connnector on the card, and P2 is the expansion connector.

Thanks - I worked out my error. The clue was I fixed the wiring errors in the machine and it stopped working. The M542T stepper drivers have an "enable" which would better have been labelled "disable" as that's what they actually do :-)

Machine is running now and homing properly. Issue I have now is that I can't get micro-stepping to work for some reason but I'm guessing that's more hardware debugging...

Thanks
