new setup error messages was created by acourtjester
HI
I finished a basic setup of QTPlasmaC (2.9), wiring almost complete, powered up. I can move the 3 axis using the arrows on the screen. But after about 30 seconds the power light goes out and it get error messages, even if I do nothing just start QTPlasmaC and wait. I have attached a zip folder with some screen shots of the error messages and a report of the errors. I am a complete newbie to Linux but not Plasma CNC, I have built 9 tables completely from scratch. I am very sure with some help I will do fine with LinuxCNC and be able to complete table #10. I am using a 7I76E board and have the THCAD 5 and 10 wired, but I think more software options will need to be added for them to function. I had the electronics setup on a card table (moving the motors) and did not have this error. I thought it was related to the home/limits set in the config so I removed them, no change.
Thanks in advance for your help.

In a terminal:
uname -a
Also check:
- 5V supply to mesa board, it can not be under 4.75V at any given time
- ethernet cable, might be crimped or nicked or stepped on

The first image shows that there are major Ethernet communication issues
Can you post your hal and ini files and also the results of pinging the 7I76E?

I swapped out the ether cable with no immediate result but it is not operating without errors. I am starting to understand some things but still have a hill to climb.
Is there a way to calibrate the steps per, I tried the method in the Pncconf but it is like monkeying with the figures. Mach had a much simpler way of telling an axis to move. And then measuring to tell if it did move correctly, if not calculate the value and save it. How can you see if the limit switches are working Mach had a diagnostic page with that info.

On the step scale you can simply enter the steps per machine unit
(inch or mm) if you don't like the helper GUI stuff.
You can "watch" the limit switch inputs with axis and:
Machine > Show Hal Configuration > Watch > Pin or Signal >
Then select the pin or signal you wish to monitor
If you are not running axis, you can do the same by launching LinuxCNC
and then launching halshow from a terminal.

Hi Thanks for the reply, some things I have found which are related or in the pin check with Halshow.First is seems the computer battery is faulty, the other day when things started working I had refreshed the BIOS. I had to do it again today, as I was having the same problem related to the ether connection. I will pull and replace the battery. Now to the pin check in Halshow, as shown in the screenshots I did as instructed and opened hapshhow in a terminal window while running QTPlasmaC. I typed is the pin address shown and it just errors out stating the address is not valid???? The input pin I am using is TB 6

If you want to monitor a pin, choose the "Watch" pane

For Home All you need to have a HOME_SEQUENCE the joint section of the ini file, preferably for every joint.
See HOME_SEQUENCE in the Homing section here

Thanks that was what I needed to do for the Halshow, because it did not have anything when I looked at it, I went to the other page. It seems I still need to add the lines in the INI to connect each axis to that signal.
Great help one step closer
