new setup error messages

Thanks for your reply, please remember I don't speak Linux yet so my questions may be very basic. I understand what you are saying but after viewing the info you suggested I don't think I would get the syntax correctly.
A second part to the original question is the button in the GUI for Home All will that be connected with the commands in the file. Or are they separate steps that are needed. I am trying to make connections to what I know and what I don't know, or relate things to get a picture in my mind of how things work.

So long as you have HOME_SEQUENCE for a joint set to a valid value in the ini file then the Home All button will apply to those joints.
