forum.linuxcnc.org/29-forum-announcement...de-of-conduct#212836

I respectfully ask that my membership be removed from the forum. This decision come with a great deal of remorse, but I feel I can not continue to be part of a community that embracing some of the basic tenants of CRT and Canada’s bill C-16.
To elaborate further would descend into an political and ideological debate.
So since I am unable and unwilling to accept the “rules of your sandpit” I understand I am not able to continue to play.
To all those that have helped I offer my sincerest thanks.

Regards
Robert P Murphy

I really wouldn't worry about the code of conduct.
One developer seemed to think it was important enough to write it.
Don't be an ass and you will be fine.

But if you do decide to stay away for a while - Just wanna say thanks for being a part to the group and come back when you are ready.
can;t really afford to lose active power users!

If that's what the code of conduct said "Don't be an ass" it would be great.

Yeah I read about the C of C thing last year, and where it came from.

On reflection I was maybe a little hasty and shooting off the hip.

Sometime I just get, you know, arghhhhhhh, and the "simple brain" takes over.

Given the mention of "C-16", " An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code " (a law which "adds gender expression and gender identity as protected grounds to the Canadian Human Rights Act , and also to the Criminal Code provisions dealing with hate propaganda , incitement to genocide , and aggravating factors in sentencing"; links go to wikipedia) I want to be absolutely clear that, yes, speaking and acting with respect for people who are transgender is required in this space; and that harassment including the use of slurs or deliberate misgendering are going to lead to bans.

This is not a forum for hate speech, it is a forum for LinuxCNC.

After thinking about this for a while, and reading a post of the user's mailing list, my ideas don't conform and therefore I'm respectfully asking again to be removed.

I have no problem with not being a jerk. If one can't stay true to one's convictions then there is nothing.

I have idealogical reasons for non agreement with the wording of the CofC, why the code of conduct has to identify certain groups I can not understand. We are all people, we are all adults and know how to treat others with respect. That is all I have to say on the matter.
I don't expect anyone to understand my thinking or to accept it, it is what it is.

Good luck to all.

Beaglebrainz thanks for your efforts and help and I hope you stick around.
Also I do not know of the reasons why the CofC has be implemented, is it someones political correctness adgena?
I believe one should show respect to all peoples, with out selecting special groups.
Cheers john
