MESA 7i95 use 6 axis + generate 0-10V Spindle output was created by mittim
Hello,
I am using a MESA 7i95 card with usage of all 6 axis outputs for moving axis.
I want to run my spindle via 0-10 V. Is there a way to generate PWM with one of the I/O´s and use an converter such as:
www.amazon.de/Digital-Analog-Signal-Tran...verter/dp/B00UIZKYAS
Thanks in advance!

Yes, it would need firmware that puts a PWM gen on P1 like:
Another option if you are not using both serial expansion connectors
would be to have firmware that outputs PWM on a serial TX output

Now on my lathe I have a Mesa 7i97, because my previous drives were analog.
Recently I replaced motors & drives with some Delta ASDA-A2, and these have step-dir so I was thinking to buy a 7i95T because I need the 7i97 to do a retrofit for a machine with analog drives.
I have two questions:
- Does the custom firmware applies for 7i95T too?
- Once I switch to step dir, if my drives have auto-tunning and I do the tunning inside the axis drives, do I still need to do PID tunning in linuxcnc? The encoder outputs from the drives will enter mesa.
Right now with analog control, I have the last digit (the micron one) flickering, but I expect that to disappear once I switch to a board that controls the drives with step-dir

For normal stuff, no custom firmware.- Does the custom firmware applies for 7i95T too?
Yes, if the encoders are connected to Mesa, you have to tune the drives first and only after they are good, tune in LinuxCNC.- Once I switch to step dir, if my drives have auto-tunning and I do the tunning inside the axis drives, do I still need to do PID tunning in linuxcnc? The encoder outputs from the drives will enter mesa.
If it does disappear, something is wrong. That is the PID loop keeping the motor in position.Right now with analog control, I have the last digit (the micron one) flickering, but I expect that to disappear once I switch to a board that controls the drives with step-dir
