Help with Z axis setup was created by Craig E
Hi everyone,
I hate to have to ask this but I cannot figure out how to setup my Z axis. the X and Y no problem but Z for some reason I just cannot get it right.
My Z axis has 9 in of travel and Prox sensors on both ends My Spindle will be at about 0.5 in from the table at min prox. I have tried to set z = 0 at both min and max prox. it homes fine but if I try to run something it will ether smash the tool into the table or say it is out of limits. I know it is most likely something. I am trying to drill some holes in .63 thick piece of aluminum so it is not like it is some giant part. and I have 9 in Z travel.
I have attached the G code for what I am trying to drill and my hal and ini files.

In the ini file, change the min and max values to -9 and 0.1 respectively .
Then check the homing again before you try to cut something.
Z axis on mils work on the negative side from the top of the material where the top of the material is 0, so home the machine= Z axis must be at the top, jog down till the tool touches the material > click on "touch off" and set the 0 there by clicking OK, jog a bit up, then run the program.

I still cannot get this program to run it keeps saying that it is outside of the Z min but it is not. I have 9 in of travel on Z and this is a 0.63 thick piece of Aluminum that I am only trying to drill 6 hole in. I have tried touching off in the air way above the part and it still says out of range on Z min.
Can someone identify what setting is causing this issue in this file it was exported from Fusion 360.

Do you have any G54 or tool length offsets?
( in axis select "Show offsets" from the "View" pulldown menu )
