Config Files was created by imslo
I just got a better computer and installed Buster on it. I was running Stretch 2.9 . I thought I could I rename the Linuxcnc folder and copy my Linuxcnc folder on the new install and it would be all setup. It would not run at all with my files. I did this on my last computer change with no problems. Can this be done?

I am not 100% clear on what it is you did exactly, but there shouldn't be any problems moving configs between 2.9 and 2.8.
What error report do you get?

What I did was just replace the total linuccnc folder with the one from my old machine. I had a config file set up and tried to run from this file. I just got a page full of junk that said at the top something like "errors encountered". I was so tired of trying to set every thing up I just went back to my old machine. It runs cnc fine but is very slow for every thing else. i'll try again later. Thanls for the reply.

You usually only need to copy your machine configuration folder (ie the one that contains your .hal and .ini files) into the 'linuxcnc/configs' folder of the new installation.

No, you don't want to do that.just replace the total linuccnc folder with the one from my old machine.
