Is the encoder on the spindle or the motor?

I was thinking…, correct me if I'm wrong: in my .ini file the encoder value is 1000ppr if you multiply by 4x = 4000ppr. There, in Halshow, the spindle feedback signal (pid.s.feedback) will be 133.06/4 = 33.33hz. Multiply 33.33*60hz = approximately 2000rpm. Is that right or am I crazy?

If the spindle runs at 1/2 the motor speed, the encoder in on the motor
and you have a 1000 PPR encoder and you are using quadrature (A and
I would expect the proper scale would be 8000 (2 turns of the motor at 4000
counts per turn to rotate the spindle one turn.)
