Qtdragon_hd error

hi, I wanted to try qtdragon on my cnc and I managed to get everything working .. the only problem is that the window is small. then i downloaded qtdragon_hd 1920x1080 exactly like my resolution but it does not start the error is this I am attaching.
linuxcnc buster 2.8.2.
 

Where did you download qtdragon_hd?

Looks like you maybe the ui and handler files don't match.

Looks like Jim (aka Persei) has switched that to python3 which requires master branch.
(and it may have required master branch before that)

As that is a screen developed outside of linuxcnc - it would be best to ask Jim directly.
He is on the forum and may pop in to clear things up.

Officially linuxcnc doesn't offer qtdragon_hd in version 2.8 - it will in master and in the next release. linuxcnc's versions are usually behind Jim's version and have slight differences.

i'm already using master 2.9 on a small plasma with qtplasmac, should i use master also for this small cnc or does it not matter? everything works fine it was just to have more compatibility with qtdragon.

Only you can decide that. master branch is development so can be a bit unstable but if you don't update all the time it is usually fine.
Right now because of the python3 gtk3 conversion it has had a fair amount of bugs.
They usually get fixed quickly when found.

Qtvcp has been python3 capable for quite some time so that shouldn't be a problem.

The safest is to use another hard drive to try the master version then you can quickly switch back if something goes wrong or you just don't like it.

well, I have at least 3 ssd for the usual cnc I do all the tests I want without danger.

Nothing to do .. I also tried 2.9 masters but always errors. I doubt that it is a localization problem. it happened with qtplasmac with a weird thc problem, then Phill fixed it.

It's hard to help when you give no information.

you are right Chris, but I want to start with a clean install without changing the language, then I will provide all the details
