The difference between LinuxCNC components and LinuxCNC driver? was created by tuzki
Hello everyone. I am a novice. I don't understand the difference between components and drivers in LinuxCNC. I think the LinuxCNC component is a small functional module with software implementations of various operations. The LinuxCNC driver is also a small functional module, but it will communicate with the hardware
Do i understand it this way?

Yes, that's basically correct, most components communicate to other
components via hal but its not really a clear distinction and as some
components do communicate to hardware, modbus for example.
