Hello all,

I wanted to ask what is a reasonable encoder line number to use with the Mesa 7i77 board?

I am using the DMM DYN4-H01A2-00 servo drive (torque mode) and I would like it to output a line number of 2500 or 10000 pulses per revolution to the 7i77.

Can I increase the line number or should I decrease it? The DYN4 drive line number can be set at 4095 or 16380 ppr.
Also, would I need to change the servo period to 200000ns per page 50 of the Linuxcnc manual?

Lastly, I would like to run my servo motor at 3000RPM max with a 2:1 gear reduction.  My mill table has a 5 TPI ballscrew and the that would give my table a 300 inch per minute max travel speed.

Thank you

I would use 2500 line (10000 CPR) as this should work with the default
Encoder filter settings. What FPGA card do you have?
A 200 us servo thread is not practical with Mesa Ethenet FPGA cards
but may be OK with PCI/PCIE.

I am using the 5i25 with 7I77.  Would the 200000ns servo time still be recommended?

Thank you.
