HOME_Index_only was created by wang
Hello everyone

I have never understood the role of Index in the HOME movement, because I am not sure who produced this Index.

Can anyone help me explain the flow of HOME movement when Index_only?

Thanks

The index signal comes from your encoder. Your glass scale has an index mark every 50mm f.e, now you can run the machine to the mechanical switch or hall sensor and then from there you can use the glass scale to find the accurate home position using those 50mm index marks.

So basically the index is just the high accuracy home "switch".

I reckon index only is used for rotary encoders where you only get one index position so you don't need a switch to pre-locate a rough home position.
