Repair 7i76e card was created by chris@cnc
Long time ago I made a mistake and connected 24V of TB2 stepper port. After that, the card only worked with field power and 5V logic power. Flashing was possible and the FPGA seems to be working. The logic working as well and I used this card as simulator.
Now I want try to fix this card.
I'm doing some verifications and hope that fixing the isn't a huge job.
Working points:
5V on TB2 and TB3 pins Okay
All I/O ports work
All 3 encoder inputs work. Test with handwheel.
Stepperport on TB3 works. Test with oscilloscope during axis movement.
Not working points:
No step signals on TB2
Nothing happend on TB4 spindle control
I can't really find a damaged chip. Only what I can see is marked in the picture.
But soldering this chip is not possible for me. Too small. Is there any other damage that I could fix?
Thanks Christian

Yes, U12 and U19 were likely damaged
These are a 74ACT540DTR2G (U12) and 74ACT541DTR2G (U19)
These are the 5V Step/Dir drivers for TB2
You would need to know someone with SMT repair skills
to replace the parts. We can do it at Mesa for a nominal charge
but that is only economic if you are in the US
The spindle output on TB4 is isolated from all 5V and field
power so unless you applied say 24V to the spindle analog section
it should be OK

I have now replaced U12 and U19 and the Step/Dir connections on TB2 are working. Thanks a lot for this. One thing is still not working. I still need to connect 5V to P3. If only Vin is connected to TB1 + TB3 the logic unit will not start. Can you help me what could be wrong here.
