Can’t find the xhc-whb04b-6 user module?

Total newbie to linuxcnc here but in my preparation to do a proper install of linuxcnc on an RP4, I decided to boot the linuxcnc live cd and test out what I learned about HAL using halrun, specifically around loading a user space module. Since my xhc-whb04b-6 arrived before my Mesa card, I figured I’d test it in sim mode and just make sure I’m able to see all the inputs. Unfortunately the xhc-whb04b-6 module doesn’t seem to be available when I do try to run “loadusr xhc-whb04b-6” (auto-complete doesn’t even have any user modules starting with x). Are these modules only available for the installed version only or am I missing something? I didn’t build any configs or anything, just booted the ISO and ran halrun.

I have never tried this, so can't really say fpr sure what the problem is.
I know that some modules are simply not built for the Pi, but can't immediately think of a reason for the xhc to be omitted.

Have you tried with other similar components?

Thanks for your reply. Turns out just because autocomplete doesn’t show it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I discovered that most components are OS level executables (maybe all, not sure) and was able to find the executable under /usr/bin among several other common components. I think I was perhaps not using the correct arguments when I tried to load the module yesterday but I was able to at least get the button presses to show but not the wheel when I used the simulation/display only arguments.

Hi i think you need to select mode using button Step/Continuous on the wheel side.

At startup the wheel is used for feed override.
On lead position the wheel is used for spindle feed override.

This is something not correctly documented on the man page !
