or from any digital model to linuxCNC
one person I know uses autocad -> cambam -> linuxCNC

now that I have a mill actually working with an up to date install of linuxCNC, it would be nice to start some small projects

I'd prefer from fusion since I use it for 3d printing and already have a lot of the learngin curve complete

I have a saintsmart 3018 cnc and trying to get fusions toolpath generator to work with it is...hard

The Fusion360 manufacturing workspace is very capable, but along with that comes yet another learning curve.

1) Create a setup, including the stock. Choose a suitable machining origin.
2) Decide on a cutting strategy (such as 2D adaptive)
3) Create a sequence of operations
4) Post-process using the supplied (in Fusion) LinuxCNC postprocessor. I would suggest one file per operation, or one file per tool.
6) Make profit.

There are some decent videos on YouTube, for example:

Looks like exactly what you need.

NYC CNC has a ton of stuff covering fusion 360 and tormach which is a linuxcnc derivative. John saunders is good at breaking it down simply.

What part are you getting hung up on? Make sure to create a tool table in fusion that matches your tools in linuxcnc.

Lars Christensen on youtube is also very good. I find it best to just try it after a video or two. You may get stuck somewhere, especially for complex shapes, but you can usually get some help on forums. I found that the autocad forums were very helpful on how to do specific things.
