DM860 Driver Enable pins was created by Eyecon
Hello,
I'm trying to figure out the proper function of the enable pin of the DM860 stepper driver. I have Step+,DIR+ connected between my Mesa 7i76e and the Step+/Dir+ pins on the driver, Dir-,Step-,Ena- from the driver are all connected to GND on the mesa side. I also connected the Ena+ to one of the output pins on the Mesa card. It seems the function of the Ena+ is the reverse of what's stated in the manual with the common cathod configuration.
My understanding from the manual is that leaving the Ena+/- disconnected enables the driver by default, but connecting them to ground should disable the driver. The behavior I'm observing is the opposite: When I power up my setup, the output pins on the Mesa card should be at logic 0(0 volts) but the driver is actually enabled in this state. I disconnected the Ena+ pin from the Mesa board and touched it physically to my common ground and that behavior persists. However if I touch the Ena+ driver pin to 24v, the fault light(red LED on the driver) comes on and the driver becomes disabled. I'm not sure if it's actually a fault(i.e. something is wrong with the connections and I have something wired incorrectly) or if this is the normal behavior and the manual is wrong.
Does any one have experience with this driver?

Leave them un-connected until you are all up and running.
They really are a dis-able signal as you found.
They are useful if they are enabled on an estop to disable the drives.
I use a single relay attached to estop-out to switch 5v from the stepgens to these inputs
