If you do decide to retrofit, have a read through this, it is for Mesa 7i77 so almost everything is the same, save for some pin names for outputs:

Yep. Not everyone gets that excited about retrofitting a cnc, but think it's pretty darn cool. How did your project end up? Any other pointers you want to give about setting it up with the Mesa card would be appreciated. As you can tell this will be my first retrofit. Thanks

That project is in use daily from when i finished it at a local factory.
The only issue i had with it is when the PC decided to go belly up.
BTW, that machine is made for milling thin aluminium, but it is used to mill 6mm thick metal, always, and still working.
