Correct linuxcnc (emc2) stepconf settings for chinese 3040 cnc was created by RJ11
Just adding this here so google will pick it up for future searches. That's why the subject is so weird sounding. For some reason idk why but nobody has the right settings on these things. The correct settings for X, Y & Z axis are:
200 steps per rotation -> all cheap chinese steppers are 200
8 microsteps -> aka the stepper driver is set to 1/8th stepping (it can do up to 1/16th supposedly)
4mm per rotation -> the ball screw has a 2mm thread but has a double lead so it moves 4mm per rotation
I have tested this and measured it and when you tell it to move 100mm it moves 100mm
