new servos for an old machine? was created by Jorgefv
Hi, I have been looking for a machine for a long time and here in my third world country prices are really high for used machines and I cannot even think about a new one.
I'm about to buy an old okuma mc4va with 30 tool carousel, but a lot of things are not working for instance every relay and contactors pads are really worn out, not a sign of a short circuit but some oxide on them and the resistances are really high also z axis servo or the controller is busted so I'm thinking of buying new ones I think the panasonic servos would work for this machine, according to manual the 3 servos are 1.2 kw so the 1.5kw panasonic I think it will do the job, the screen turns on, the osp controller turns on and shows several alarms.
This is the servo I'm looking to get panasonic 1.5kw + driver I have a couple of questions.1. Have you ever worked with that panasonic servos?
2. Would you recommend any other servo?
3. Is all of this a good idea or I should get away and continue looking?
I want to work with mesa as much as possible and this would be my first machine, I have retrofitted other machines in the past, and also worked on several kinds of cnc machines fixing then old and modern but this would be the first I could own myself.
Also I found some working ones for example a working 4020 fadal that cost 28k usd.
and a fadal vmc rt15 I’m not sure if that one is working but have almost the same working range as the okuma they are asking 14k usd.

I have been looking to also ethercat servos but I don't know where would be the best place to get them, I usually get my parts from ebay and amazon because they do ship to my country.
at this point I wont be picky
Any suggestions?
