I've been looking for a solution to a problem Im having with setting up a limit switch but I cant figure out how it can be done. I only have one input thats available because my limit switch is located centrally on the machine table and gets activated by rollers at each end of the table. one axis direction is connected via hal pins etc. and works great including the ability to ignore the limits and jog off but i have no idea how to deal with the axis when it limits out in the opposite direction.
I sure could use some help.

Thanks All

Why don't you point the software to the same switch for both X and Y. When you home, do only one axis at a time. That way, the software will see a correct signal while homing.

If your machine limits out, it should eStop in any case, should not matter which axis, the machine has to stop.

theres plus and minus hal limit pins for each axis and i connected a single mesa input to both of them like you suggested hoping that i could let them both trigger, then ignore the input and jog off and be done with it but my gui filled the screen with so many error warnings i had to restart linuxcnc. i wish there was an additional option for just one axis limit pin along with the positive and a negative that currently exist. im using gscreen gui and i really like it and there arent any homing routines currently on the machine.
