Did you test upping the voltage on the power supply?

No not yet. I have had a quick look and can see where I have to do it, but I have to get some work done around the house first. I have it planned for an afternoon job.

OK....... With the power supply turned up to 55.5 VDC best I could get was 70 inches per minute. Above this it starts to stall.
I was looking into the LAM steppers but there don't appear to be any distributors in Australia, that I can find. I did come across another sort.....Cool Muscle CM1 Steppers these look neat and operate on closed loop. HERE
I had a quick look at the MESA website. Thats another level of confusion for me to learn there. Would I be correct in saying that the high impedance in the steppers I have plus the way I am driving it are the primary causes of the issues I am facing?
Kind Regards

Actually, when I look at your motors. I have a pair of the same motors. You don't say what method you've wired them up.
You have to use them in bipolar parallel mode or torque and performance will be very disappointing.
Any other wiring method is basically useless performance wise.
I had to increase my power supply amps to run them from 7 amp to 10 amp because of the current requirement.
But then they performed very well on 48 volts

Hi Rod,
I will check on this and report back. In bipolar parallel what speed could you achieve. If I could get close to 100 inches per minute, then I would be happy for the prototype testing etc.

My speeds are not relevant really as it was a rack and pinion plasma machine but I could easilly get 750 RPM out of them. I think my rapids were about 20 metres/min

Afternoon Everyone.
So Rod, I have looked at mine and they are wired in Bipolar Parallel, so I am not sure what the issue is, and why I cannot get a similar RPM.
Ron Nollet - Does he have a website? I will reach out to him this week.

As I said in a previous post. I think Tommy has said the same.
Your link:- www.omc-stepperonline.com/digital-steppe...34-motor-dm860t.html
You could do with upping the voltage to the drives to 65v AC or 95V DC
