Mesa Cards for a 3 axis plus spindle configuration was created by Diel
Hello there,My name is Gustavo Diel and I am from Brazil. I have been working with CNC Machines for over 25 years.I used lots of industrial CNCs as Siemens, Heidenhain, Fagor, Fidia, Fanuc and others.I start using Linux CNC as an option to the expensive industrial CNCs, however, I have been using with stepper motors and machines with no need of lots of field IOs, just connecting the PC through the parallel ports.
I really like the LinuxCNC and now I have a few machines to retrofit that will need field IOs and have analog servo interface.=11.0ptI been looking Mesa Website and think that a Plug & Go KIT “7I77-5I25 PLUG-N-GO KIT” + “7I64 Isolated remote I/O card” would be a good configuration for my needs.I would like to be sure that the hardware will be a good choice and will work out with the pnc config as I am new on using Mesa cards and the configurations with LinuxCNC.I will greatful if someone indicate some documentation that I could study mesa cards configurations and selecting hardware. Thank you and best regards,Gustavo Diel

This is my choice for analog servo retrofits, so far has worked perfectly
Mesa 7i77 plus
Mesa 5i25 PCI
or
Mesa 6i25 PCI-E
or
Mesa 7i92 ETH
If more I/O are needed, add
Mesa 7i84 with 32 inputs and 16 outputs, connects directly to Mesa 7i77
If even more I/O is needed, add
Mesa 7i74 that has 8 Smart Serial connectors and connects to Mesa 5i25 or 6i25 or 7i92, then add as needed:
Mesa 7i70 48 inputs, up to 8 can be added to 7i74 and another one to 7i77, 9 total
Mesa 7i71 48 outputs, sourcing, up to 8 can be added to 7i74 and another one to 7i77, 9 total
Mesa 7i72 48 outputs, sinking, up to 8 can be added to 7i74 and another one to 7i77, 9 total

You are welcomed, always.
Maybe i complicated it to much, so the simple answer is yes, a mesa 7i77 with a 5i25 is a good starting point and might prove to be more than enough for what you need.
I have several machines using just that.
