I'll have to try connecting to one of the active USB extensions. I thought I had it on there now, but I'll have to go out to the shop to verify. I'm right on concrete with no mats,

I have still been using Axis as I haven't had the time to get through the little changes I need to for QT Dragon to work the way I need it to ( like touching tools off) and some other odds and ends. I really like QT Dragon alot.

I really like QTDragon also. I am using an M6 remap with a mix of fixed length tools using TTS tool holders and variable length tools like drills and taps. I also used a 3D probe and toolsetter. The variable length tools get measured right after a tool change and fixed length use the length from the tool table.

I just need more time to get QTD setup. I have analog 3D taster and tool setter so having a "tool touch off" button like Axis would be great. I want to get a full Renishaw probe system for this machine, the analog touchoffs work they are just a little slower. Hopefully I will get some time with it this week, spindle bearings are going out in that machine and I need to pull the spindle first and get a plan going on it.

I have a   Hallmark ITTP Probe .

I really like all of the probing options on the QTDragon probe screen.  Mine is just a Sieg X3 hobby machine.  Nothing too fancy.  Good luck with your spindle.

Yeah spindle not happy.  Lots of broken Belleville's which blows my mind how I still had good tool tension.  That upper duplex bearing has checked out.  The thickeners and oil have separated in the grease and killed the upper set.   Tomorrow is looking expensive.

Yeah that looks a mess.

I replaced my spindle bearings about a year ago. The lower was a tapered roller and the top was a radial + ball thrust bearing. I replaced the top with a tapered roller. So far so good. The mill was designed to run 2500 rpm max. I'm running it at 5400. I replace the original motor and gear box with a DYN4 1.8kW servo motor geared 1:1.8 via a toothed belt.
