2.8.2 buster. No sound. was created by muzza
I've googled 'no sound output' on linux buster and all the solutions are a level or 7 higher than where I'm at.
I'm trying to learn LinuxCNC through YouTube. Now that I've got my system up and running with internet in my garage, I no longer have to trudge back to the house to search for something, or use my tiny iPhone screen.
But Youtube without sound it pretty useless.
Could someone talk me through, at a very basic level, how to get sound in my headphones on LinuxCNC Buster? Or point me to a basic 'how-to'?
Thanks in advance.

Generally I disable the sound via the BIOS so as not to affect latency.
Did you disable sound in the BIOS and forget, I've done that with the camera on my laptop from time to time.
Generally a description of your PC and the output ofis a good start.
Additionallyis also helpful.
inxi maybe installed via
Also if you want to provide a link to "level 7 solutions" one of us maybe to walk you through it or make it appear simpler.

ooh, I don't like the sound of "affecting latency".
I might just borrow my son's laptop and bring it over to the shed.
Thanks anyway.

Just be sure that the sound is turned off in the BIOS or UEFI system setup.

Open Menu Application -> Multimedia -> PulseAudio and look if s.th. is deactivated, I had Installations, where the sound was disabled by software. Also on YouTube in the browser you can click on the speaker symbol and disable sound.
