Need opinion for Union Boring mill was created by yrsiddhapura
Greetings,
I am planing to buy a used WMW Union NC Boring Mill with Heidenhain TNC 124 (Not working) and want to convert in Linuxcnc. As following this machine has hydraulic clamping on linear axis which are locked while axis is not moving and while its get command to move then it will first unlock the axis clamp and then axis will move. So it is possible with linuxcnc.
And as following Mesa Electronic or Mesa US web store Mesa 7i76e is out of stock so what will be best alternative mesa board is best.

Hi
It should be possible if you use the axis like an indexer
have a look at:
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/man/man9/moti...OINT%20UNLOCK%20PINS
and
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/config/ini-co...lt_letter_gt_section
If you want to use both index and coordinated moves you might need to write wcomp component to turn off the brake any time the axis is moving.

Hallo,
I am pretty shure, that this machine has only one Motor for all axis.
So the axis are Connected by clutches. You can only move one axis and no coordinated moves. Tnc 124,has been only an "way" Control .

@db1981 yes you partially right when it was build it was working point to point as you mentioned but this machine is retrofitted it was coverted to independent axis and each axis has separate motor but in this picture there is only single motor mounted on machine and other are removed from machine but when I personally inspected machine there was timing belt pulley were mounted on ball screw and rotary table shaft

The locking indexer option in linuxcnc only allows G0 moves. I don't think this is the correct way for your machine.
You can clamp any axis using your hydraulic setup. Just disable the servo motor while clamped and don't command it to move while clamped. This will cause a following error.
Sure, the table can be set up as a locking indexer, but not the linear axes.

Yes that's what i was thinking locking indexer is not solution for what i want to do. And yes it has Hydraulic unit for braking clamps.

but the hydraulic clamping on this machine is related to the original build with one motor for all axis.
Do you still need the clamping if the axis has its own motor with enabled control loop ?

yes it might doesn't need on separate motor setup specially while using 11nm(3kw) motor but still there is chance to have it while working with heavy cut but its secondary thing right now i am also thinking to not to use brake and give try to simple setup
