Tool Setter for Tool Diamters was created by Roguish
hey all.
Is anyone using a tool setter for getting the diameter of mill cutters?
If so, which one?   Brand, model, etc.....

Not using it yet for diameter, but the vers.by tool setter is diameter-capable.  It's basically an upside-down spindle probe.

Only thing to note is there's no air blast built in to clear chips, but I'll rig something up after I'm done with about 20 other rebuild commissioning tweaks.

I'm very happy with the vers.by wireless spindle probe, BTW.

I have been using the vers.by probe for years now and I am on receiver board number 4 and probe number two (upgraded to the rechargeable one). Having been a vivid fan of the probe initially has calmed down quite a bit. These days I am less vocal about it, since I have had numerous issues with it not waking up correctly (causing the probe to crash when probing) and with large number of misfires due to signal interference. I have taken care of this by disabling the probe input whenever it is not in the spindle, but it did cause quite a bit of grief (To explain: If the probe input triggers while a program is running in linuxcnc, it will stop the program as it aims to protect the probe (that is good).). Still, it is one of the most compact and performant wireless probes in the DIY market.

Thanks for the long-term sanity check.  I've not been using mine much as I'm still in 'rebuild' mode.

Slight thread hijack, but this appears to be useful info for any spindle probe and/or tool setter so I'll ask here rather than starting a new thread:
I have taken care of this by disabling the probe input whenever it is not in the spindle,

How did you accomplish this?
Do you have a tool setter too?
If so, how do you disable the spindle probe when the probe is out of the spindle without disabling the tool setter (typically they're on the same input pin)

Have you thought about making one? I have made one that is direct-mount in an ER20 spindle, and only 3 parts to machine.

Yes, especially after watching your excellent video(s).  In my case, I really wanted a wireless spindle probe for ATC compatibility.

My tool setter is wired - seemed safer - and the vers.by has a multi-plexer to permit both on one LCNC input.
