Hi,
I am making a 350kg CNC from a mill. I have watched several tutorials on the topic, but unfortunately, the parts usually mentioned can't be found in the EU. For example, I want to use Linux CNC, but I can't find a Mesa 7I7e board. Could someone recommend a controller that would give me a good experience? Or where can I buy a Mesa board? I did see that there were similar posts in the past, but none recently so wanted to refresh the topic.Looking forward to making some cool parts for my university projects.

For step/dir controll Mesa:
7i96
7i76E
7i95
7i92/7i76
7i92/7i85 or 7i85S, not sure
Those are all ethernet, for PCI and PCI-E there are some more FPGA to choose from but they use the same daughterboards.
Check
www.eusurplus.com Portugal
www.mesanet.com USA
www.mesaus.com USA
There are more webshops in Germany and Czech Republic, but prices are much higher.

haha. I saw you in almost every other post I read. Thanks a lot. I actually just got off the phone with eusurplus and literally asked them and they said - yea just get the 7i96s. So this is is solid now. I am ordering. I will get:
3x NEMA 34 - 12 NM
3 DM860H Stepper Driver
limit switches
and with the right mesa card I am almost there :3.
will post when its ready.

If there is a choice, choose the Mesa 7i92M as it plugs in directly to Mesa 7i76 (and 7i77 that i mostly use) saves the hassle of a cable, then again last 2 of 7i92 i got from eusurplus were not the M variant :(
Just in case you go for 7i85, there are two versions, but i never used them so i am not sure what is what and how.... shame on me! :)

Quick Edit - 7i96S v not 92 is what they recommended right now. I got the last digit wrong. Any thoughts?

7i96S is very good, it also has a 26 pin header so more cards can be added later if needed, oh and it has 2 SSerial ports i think, i have the non S version, so even more cards can be added! :)

when you say: more cards can be added - does that mean that besides the 7i96s I have to buy something additional to run Linux CNC and the motors+ drivers or it just means I can add additional functionalities later?

No additional cards, 7i96S has everything you need, but just in case you want to add more functionality to the machine later, the options are plentyfull.
