Hi, I'm just venturing into the diy cnc world and have managed to get a small lathe working with linuxcnc. I have swapped the spindle motor for a three phase one and can drive it with a Parker ac10 vfd on the vfd's panel. I have now tried to connect to it using a usb to rs485 dongle. Following the instructions fromĀ wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?VFD_Parker_AC10. In the mb2hal.ini it says to change the HAL_MODULE_NAME and .ini file name to my own. What would these be? this is a stupid question but i need to ask it as i'm at a complete loss as to where i am going wrong.
after editing the mb2hal file and then launching linuxcnc i get a debug error message as in attachment.

Thank you for looking at my post.

Sorry that you have had to wait so long for a reply.

HAL_MODULE_NAME is a "macro" (ie, a variable) in the INI file that is used in the other files. By default, in the demo config, it is "spindle_vfd" but you can change that if you want the HAL pins to have specific names.

To change it, edit this line in the ac10_mb2hal.ini file
HAL_MODULE_NAME=spindle-vfd
