The network connection has been disconnected was created by xlordofpainx
Hi
I have a mesa 7i96s. I had a working ethernet connection to it until I didn't. I changed nothing. After a restart, I could no longer retain connection. When I ping 10.10.10.10 it works while it's "connecting to it" while "the symbol for the connection is spinning and then disconnecting. I saw that I can't have wifi and the Lan at the same time so I unticked wifi, but still had this problem. I am on a laptop and am booting from USB. I reflashed the USB with the Debian iso but have the same problem. . Any ideas?  .

I will bring a PC today and just do a clean install and see if that works. Maybe as the PC will not inherently have wifi it won't cause this problem>? The cable works fine as you can see I can ping it for some time while its re-connecting.
I will buy a new USB as well as for some reason it was not booting the last time and re-flashing worked.

You have the same IP address on both the PC and Mesa card, that does not work.
The tutorial clearly mentions to set the PC IP to anything BUT 10.10.10.10
Change the IP to 10.10.10.100

Ahh. I guess after restarting it multiple times I got I started mistyping it. But now Even when I type it properly I get the network is unreachable and the top right corner is constantly spinning (trying to connect). While it's trying to connect I am getting ping and "mesaflash --device 7i96 --addr 10.10.10.10 --readhmid" works too. but when it gives up and top right stops swirling and just shows 2 monitors with a cross I get unreachable. While its trying to connect the ping stays for a minute or so.

I tried sudo ethtool -C eth0 rx-usecs 0 but am getting ethtool commadn not found

On IPv4 Settings TAB Method should be Manual and DNS servers blank.

Give it a try.

Haha. yea that was the problem. I am so embarrassed. :D I followed the tutorial properly but after rebooting 100 times I started missing stuff. Now I installed the linux on the drive and the settings are set and saved. No more re setting the network settings or anything. Thank you :3
