7i96S output circuit protection was created by aabtech
Hi, in the manual it says the 7I96S outputs are not short circuit protected so a 2A to 5A fuse should be used in the power source that supplies outputs0 through 3. Outputs 4 and 5 should be protected with a 1/4 Amp fuse. My question is can you use a 1A to 4A circuit breaker instead of fuse?
the 1A will be in output 4 and 5 and 4A at 0 to 3 output is it possible?

Circuit breakers are generally too slow to react, thus does NOT offer adequate protection of electronic circuits.

Even normal simple glass fuses are fast and slow reacting, but those are easy to identify, glass no filling = fast, glass with sand filling = slow.
Circuit brakers are also different by the type of current, AC and DC ones, not the same. AC ones for normal house and industrial use in Europe are also from fast to slow labeled by A, B, C, D, respectively.

Thanks very much. But I want to know, in the manual it says
Low current outputs 4 and 5 are AC SSR type and are non-polarized. Outputs 4 and
5 have a maximum load current of 100 mA but have high isolation and are more suited to
driving electrically noisy devices like spindle VFD’s and plasma torch controls so does it mean you don't need a relay for plasma torch control and spindle to connect to output pin 4 & 5, you can connect it directly to the pins?

Yes.
I have 7i96, 7i95, 7i76E, several 7i77 that turn plasma on with no additional relays.
Still, better use relays, if anything goes wrong, Mesa should stay intact. And relays are cheap compared to other stuff in the machine.

Thanks very much. but I want to know
If the relay have protection do you still need a fuse?
