Hello,
we would like to use 4x High S-720, each with a Zero 4/5 controller. We would really like to avoid using Windows and found the Linux CNC project.

Hello tommylight, sorry my English is not so good.
I want to control the CNC of cnc-step S720 which runs with Zero-4/5 controller via Linux not Windows, I found LinuxCNC for that and wonder if it's possible to run our CNC with LinuxCNC via Network, so no parallel port or USB to control?

You can run pretty much any machine with LinuxCNC, it all depends on how far you are willing to go with time and money.
Open the control box, take some pictures of the electronics inside, post them here on the forum so we can have a look.
I did a quick search, there are several versions of the same controller, so i would guess changing the ethernet board with a Mesa 7i92 or 7i96S would work perfectly.
