Mmm, I thought so too - I have submitted an issue here: github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/issues/2329
I've slightly 'solved' the probing issue as this arrived in the post this morning:
(I couldn't get on with the wiggler) but after all the effort I've put into the Renishaw mount (and have to admit being quite pleased with the result!) I really would like to get the Probe Screen working...

I think that this is fixed now, in my fork of Probe Screen NG.

I'm not sure how much of a common heritage probing has.
A couple of us have been working on debugging the probing in qtdragon.
We relocated a bug last night and are just waiting for cmorley to update the code.
We must be getting close!
Thread is here forum.linuxcnc.org/qtvcp/48995-qtdragon-probing-issues
qtdragon could be a worthy companion to your Reinshaw. It includes versb.y probing and basic probe.
I like it so much I bought a HD 1080p monitor for it

Thank you - sorry I missed your reply (been actually making chips!). I'm tempted by a new monitor - my current (Asus) one is appallingly reactive - seems to get stuck if you don't double tap *exactly* right the first time!
I really like gmoccapy but qtdragon looks very complete - just not so colourful!

Yes, I had a 15.6" Asus 1536 x 768. I could not find any GUI that scaled nice.
I ended up buying an industrial 15.6 inch 1080p monitor from greentouch.
It has a full metal case so much more robust than the crappy Asus.
They had lots of nicer options but had to use one with a Bezel as the flat mount ones were too big for my enclosure.

Your monitor is great.
Xfce top bar is automatically hidden ? because unless the bottom of qtdragon_hd is invisible, the status bar should also be visible.

Thanks, I made it hide the top panel. I think I will leave that until I finish fixing everything up and I don't really need to update anything.
Its a bit annoying otherwise.
I forgot I had found a regression in Chris's code which required editing a hal file. I will report it The hal type for the spindle connection should be bit, not u32. What was working for me broke on the last update.

Oooo - that's nice! I have console envy now... I initially bought a Hanspree but it had *terrible* viewing angles. The Asus is a great disappointment on the touch side (and too low resolution).
