Probe Screen - Interface was created by Jeff_in_Wa
I must have made this question way too complicated.
I have included a couple of photos below. Would someone kindly tell me what numbers
you would put in the probe settings to probe a rectangle box's ID?
That is all I need for right now. My probe operation is working fine for OD operations. I just
cannot figure out how to make it work with ID operations.
Thanks tons
In the documentation for how this screen functions, there are some examples of inside / outside circles, and inside corners of a rectangle or square.
I'm wanting to center on the ID of a rectangle. After setting the parameters to what makes sense for the long side, I push the center button on an inside measurement, and the X gets set fine. But when the probe moves to the first Y edge, it just stops.
I'm pretty sure the parameters that I'm using are fine for the long side of the rectangle. But they may not be right for the short side.
Any thoughts would be welcome
Also, in the documentation for the probe screen, it says the param settings get stored in the pref file. My settings are not being stored. Each time I load Linuxcnc, I have to put them in again.

Need to know:
What version of linuxcnc.
What screen you are using.
What probe routine you are using.

Verdun 2.8.2gmoccapySee photosIn the diagram showing, I have put in the edge length for the long side, and that works fine. This is using the "Measurement Inside" sectionThe probe moves as intended at each end. Then it comes back to center and starts to measure towards the bottom Y. When it hits the edge, the routine stops without any errorsAll I need to know is what the parameters need to be loaded for this to work. Somehow I'm missing the key here. As well, why aren't the parameters being stored?

No pic included. Might want to post your config files too.

Alright. Sorry about the delay in getting what is needed to answer my above question.
Linuxcnc Version 2.8.1
gmoccapy ui
See attached photos
I have no problems probing any outside dimensions. But when I set any parameters which
would make sense to me for the example inside probe (to find center), the probing works fine on X,
but when the probe hits the bottom wall on Y, it just stops without any error message.
If someone would just tell me what parameters you would put where for this opening, that
would help me understand where my problem is.
Also, in the documentation, it says the parameters are set in a pref file. My settings do not
get stored. I wonder if there is an obvious fix for this.

Looks like you are using Verse probe routines.
This is a third party library so we don't have docs for it.
If you run linuxcnc from a terminal, you might see more info to give a clue about what is happening. please post it.
Could you post your config files.

I don't know much about it but maybe have a look at this : forum.linuxcnc.org/49-basic-configuration/29187-work-with-probe
And also on github: github.com/verser-git/probe_screen_v2
