Hey powerhouse, I know you said you installed it already. Im not sure your process but I will recomend installing one of the premade RPI/linuxcnc OS images. That way we can narrow down issues easier, and in the future, it will be a lot easier. If you did install a premade image you can ignore this step. The current RPI situation for linuxcnc is a little muddy at the moment, but it is fairly easy.
Step1: premade rpi image
forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc...cnc?start=150#253623
So for the image, download linucnc-2.9.0pre-bullseye_arm64rt.zip for this post by user elovalvo. This image has linuxcnc and the realtime kernel already installed so it should be already working. You will just have to configure your screen.
Step2: configure your mesa card with pncconf
in the dropdown start menu for linuxcnc there is a configuration tool called pncccof. this is uses to made mesa configuration easy. Have a look at the manual if you need some guidance.
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.9/html/config/pncconf.html
Here is the mesa driver manual. the mesa driver is included with linuxcnc, no need to install anything.
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.9/html/drivers/hostmot2.html
Step3: check if its working.
All the needed drivers are included with linuxcnc, so there wont be anything extra to install.
Open a terminal, and start linuxcnc (type linuxcnc in terminal). Load a sim configuration. The terminal should read something a long the lines of "Running POSIX realtime" if it is working properly, and "Running POSIX non-realtime"
You have me stumped as to how to check if the card is working before it is configured. I usually make my configuration and test the way I described. Maybe another user can help with that. I apologize I cannot help with the ethernet portion.
Bottom line, do not get overwhelmed by all the complicated things, and with a premade linuxcnc image, there is nothing to install.
