There is a lengthy topic here with the issue, the analog signal gets delayed inside the drive to the point that it is useless with LinuxCNC. There are several members that just gave up on it and switched to step/dir control, means switching from 7i77 to 7i76, or the likes.
Here is when i was still good with them

I never used DMM, i live in a good forsaken country so shipping from US will cost more than the drives.I would like to hear more about the problem you had with DMM though, was it just with analog velocity control?

Not quite sure why anyone would choose to use analog if replacing both the controller to use LCNC and adding new servo drives themselsves but to each their own. I took a quick peak at the manual to refresh my memory and it is confusing that they consider analog as velocity control and S+D is only listed as position control. That could be the case in some way but like I said I use a 5krpm servo with S+D and since I do mostly aluminum I run the thing @ 5k pretty much non stop. I do rigid tapping with it too
Don't mind the yapping, was trying to prove the point that you didn't need a 1:1 belt spindle drive or an spindle mounted encoder to do rigid tapping with LinuxCNC

Don't wanna hijack the thread but I misunderstood what you said before. I gather you were trying to get them to send some evaluation units out to people in return for some kind of feedback so they could improve this analog issue?

Thank you.
Sorry for hijacking the topic, going to find a big rock and hide under it for a while.

Yes, i was trying to help them, i liked them a lot back then, still do, but they should have really mailed the sets and be done with it. The combined experience of 3 of us mentioned above is damn close to 100 years.Don't wanna hijack the thread but I misunderstood what you said before. OK threadjacking over lol.
Sliptonic, is your machine already running LinuxCNC? Are you just looking to swap the servo amps? As some point with these older machines it becomes a hell of alot easier to just throw the baby out with the bath water.

Yes. I've been running linuxcnc and/or machinekit for years. The machine has a 5i25/7i77. I'm not opposed to replacing the servos as well as the amps. I have a couple products that I make with it as a side-hustle and I'm wasting a lot of time when an amp errors out.
To be honest, this machine's main purpose in life is to be a test-platform as I'm working on FreeCAD/Path. Simulators only go so far and there's nothing like "eating the dogfood" to improve the software.
I also wired the machine up with two step drivers so I can control a 4th/5th axis rotary table. I have plans to add 3+2 milling to Path...someday.

If you're just looking to replace the amps it doesn't sound like it's too huge of an ordeal but I don't know what that machine has stock so really can't say.
I'm not really looking for a paid gig but I am looking for help with this:
forum.linuxcnc.org/54-user-exchange/48393-gui-programmer-needed
I got a freelancer on it but it does not seem to be going anywhere and I'm probably gonna wind up having to cancel it. Seems like you're stretched for time but maybe at your skill level it's not such an endeavor. I could make cables for you, prewire some stuff, not sure exactly what it looks like yet but whatever to sort of even out the barter.
If you're interested shoot me an email @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
