I've sorted out most of the glaring issues I had moving from 2.7.8 to 2.9pre1 and a new pc and OS and now it's time to make some chips again. In doing so I've come across a few things I've not seen before.

For background/dev feedback, 2.9pre1 took my 2.7.8 configs and updated them to the new format with joints and whatever other witchcraft is in there without and trouble that I've seen. Excellent job, I was concerned I'd be starting with PNCconfig again.

My biggest issue seems to be related to tool changes? Or tool offsets. I'm using a manual tool change mill, manual tool change component and because I had some concerns about maybe my tool table being the issue I deleted the old one and let linuxcnc auto-create a new one for me.

Trouble appears to be when I have a tool loaded up with a G43 offset and try to start running a program the Z rendering of where the part will be in Z axis is broken? Applied without tool offset? The program is not lacking a G43 so I'm not sure what is going on.

Step 1 (see images of same name below): Ran another program, everything was fine, ready to run the next ngc, load it up, renders in a weird spot. It really shouldn't even matter what current tool is loaded or what offset is currently applied, the loaded program is calling for a tool and setting offset, but that's not rendered? You'll notice the live plot is rendered above the machine area.

Step 2: receive z axis out of bounds warning. MDI'ing G49 seems to clear the issue up But I don't understand why. In this image the plot has moved down into the machine work area.

Step 3:??? Thorough confusion.

Can anyone explain to me what's going on here? I'm operating the machine in the same way I would have in 2.7.8. I use my tool setter on the Mill table to set all my tool using the "Tool Touch Off" Button, same as ever. I touch off those tools at 2" as that's the height off the mill table of the tool probe. Which gives me a system where tools are referenced so that with their tool offset on, they would touch the table when Z=0 in a non-offset WCS,

Other issue: When I grab the liveplot to scroll it around using my touch screen it weirdly re-centers the plot and makes impossible to drag the screen any considerable distance. Totally different behaviour to my previous experience where I could drag screen/view around. I get the expected result if I click with the mouse.

Forgot an issue. It's not super relevant to me, but maybe it's related to the tool offset/?tool change? issue above.

When I go to file properties and look at the tool change line it says info that doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Example, having tool 36 loaded, loading a program that has only one M6, that being for Tool 36 results in the tool change saying "2 2". Which I don't get? Are those pocket numbers maybe?

I previously noticed that when I load a program with real tool changes in it, it had the tool number to be loaded in the list but incremented by one, so a program using tool 1 and 36 listed tools 2 and 37 in the tool change list.
