Using 7i96s encoder input B for arc voltage? was created by n2fastcars75
I guess i blew my encoder input A on my 7i96s board! Is there a way to run it off the other encoder input B port? This is for arc voltage. Thanks

The 7i96s_dpl firmware allows for up to three counter inputs
on the encoder A,B, and IDX pins.

However its unlikely that the A inputs have been damaged.

If you do not get a yellow blinking LED on the THCAD
I would not expect a THCAD output signal.

Ok thank you peter. I have a new one coming. I was just worried i might have did something to the 7i96. Everything in regards to the 7i96 has been wired correctly. I just had the resistor on the wrong wire for the thcad-10 input from the plasma cutter. Everything is setup and working on my machine except for the thc control.

Reversing the input to a THCAD will not damage it,
nor will connecting it directly to plasma voltages
of less than 500V. If the Yellow LED CR2 does not
blink, there is a functional issue with the card

Ok i didnt reverse the inputs only got my resistor on the wrong wire. I really didnt think it saw 500 volts. The most i have ever seen out of the 2 pin output port on the plasma machine was like 130 volts. I have never seen the CR2 LED blink. As well not sure if its important but the CR5 hasn't ever came on at all. I have checked wiring several times and it is wired correctly to the manual. I have tried pulling ground and 5 volts input for the thcad from TB2 pins 1,9 for ground and tried using the positive 5 volts from pins 6,12. Didn't help any. The one thing i have noticed that i will have 4.9 volts between the ground and 5 volt pins on the 7i96 board as well as on the wires at the terminal block for the thcad. After i plug the wires into the terminal input block on the thcad and turn power back on to the 7i96 it has a drop to 4.7 volts at the terminal block on the thcad. Like the thcad is putting a load on the 7i96 but maybe that is ok? Thats with nothing else connected to the thcad at all only 5 volts and ground.
