Hi guys! im new here! im trying with this post to understand linux cnc possibilities. Im very new at this.

Is it possible to create robots (mainly with xyz axis) but with different tools on the Z plane? Could i have more than one tool at the Z axis at the same time? I know i have to learn a lot of HAL but not sure if is even possible.

Mainly, Im trying to create a compressed air robot graber for wood to move it around to different stations to be able to cut it, hole it, paint it, etc, etc, but im not sure if is possible with linux cnc or what kind of limitations i will find (besides my knowledge on hal lol).

Could you give me a few hints on this ? ty

(btw im sorry about my eng is not very good ty)

I am not sure that you need to concentrate all that much on HAL at this point.

I am not 100% clear what you want to do, but it sounds fairly easy unless I am missing a complication.

Im trying to understand if i could control a machine like this with linux cnc:
(at 3:38 of the video). That's a robot arm but in my case i would try to build a cartesian robot that grabs planks the same way

I don't see any reason that LinuxCNC couldn't be set up to do that.
(And LinuxCNC can control serial robots like that too, you don't need to limit your ideas to cartesian robots)

It's just doing a programmed series of moves, typical CNC controller stuff.
