Old KX3 running 2.7.0 Want to see if possible to upgrade. was created by Roadwins
I have an old KX3 cnc and I just built a new shop. I moved it from my old shop. It has not been used in years and has never been upgraded since I got it. Just plugged everything in and everything seems to still work. Really want to learn how to use it. Machine has a C11G board with a Parallel port. Computer has a N3150B-ITX motherboard tho I don't know what CPU. Would it be possible to upgrade this to the latest LinuxCNC? Thanks in advance.

Since you are on a parallel port, going for the official 2.8 ISO and installing the RTAI kernel with it's respective version of LinuxCNC should be OK.
Having said that, if the machine is working and there is no need for the new features, stick with it.
I still have machines running LinuxCNC 2.7 on Ubuntu 10.04! They never fail.

I would venture a guess at N3150 from Intel!Computer has a N3150B-ITX motherboard tho I don't know what CPU.

The J1900/N3150/N3160/J4125 Celeron CPUS are all 4 core and work quite well for Linuxcnc. An old N3160 I have had for about 7 years seems to have lower latency on Bookworm now than back when I bought it on Linux Mint 17.3
The earlier J1850 is only 2 cores so I would avoid.
