Primer on setting up 5th axis?

Hi all,

I don't know if the search function is working for me but I get no results searching for "set up 5th axis," or much of anything. I apologize if this question has been asked a million times but Id like to get my C axis going. 

I'm in the process of building a trunnion table and have been playing around with XYZA, with the C rotational axis wired to the Y on the 7i96s (running off Debian12) for now to check the build. Ideally I'd like to program sample stuff for it but I can't find a primer or instructions anywhere on how to do it.
