I am looking to replace a defunct display on my cnc lathe.
.I have a compact touchscreen I was hoping to fit and intending to use Gmocappy.
This screen has HDMI input and I have a DVI to HDMI adaptor cable .
I have fitted an AMD Radeon R5 340X in my PCIE slot but Linux is not recognising it or finding a driver . My PC is Intell low profile
AMD website is not easy to navigate for a linux driver for this .
Can anyone explain to me how to go about getting this card recognised in linux Debian , to get me a suitable output to my display
TIA John

First thing, if you could supply some extra information that would make sorting out a solution some what easier.
Are you using Debian, Linux Mint or Ubuntu.
What version are you using are you using ?
The above info can be found out by:
For Mint or Ubuntu:
cat /etc/lsb-release
For Debian:
cat /etc/debian_version
Is there anymore identifying information regarding your PC ? There are many many computers that go by the decription "Intel low profile" ?
What is the issue ?
If you are not getting any display at all you will need to find a way to get a display or login in via ssh if this has been setup, if ssh has not been setup you will need to act upon the 1st suggestion regarding getting a display.
If you are getting a display but it is not the correct resolution\size you should be able to change it. Depending on the system involved if you look through your menu there should be an entry along the lines of "Settings" or similar.
One thing of note you should make sure that the adapter you got is of the bi-directional type , I have used many HDMI to DVI adapters but unsure if the ones I have work the other way around as I have had no need to try. You may have to check with the seller or try and find the manufacturer via any identifying marks of the adapter or packaging.
I did see a Linux driver on the AMD website but this was dated 2015, but I would be hesitant to recommend this as I do not want to be the cause of any more headaches.
Pleas be aware that the answer you want may take some time to get as it is not the easiest of task. For now the most important thing is to supply the information required.

Check out the debian wiki wiki.debian.org/AtiHowTo
Your card is a "GCN 1.0" card and needs the xserver-xorg-video-ati package.
I actually don't know this, it's just what I read.
