Hello all,

I have installed LinuxCNC 2.9 with Gmoccapy on a Debian 12.

Everything work fine but now I would like to use a 3D touch probe.

After a lot of search on why I could make it work, I stepped uppon a post here that stated a few month ago that probe screen is not compatible with LinuxCNC 2.9. And also, I cannot downgrade to 2.8 under Debian 12.. So I feel a bit stuck.

Is it still impossible to use probe screen with LinuxCNC 2.9 ? And if yes, what can I do to use a probe with 2.9 ?

Thank a lot for help.

Not sure about the status of Probe Screen but QtDragon Gui has probing integrated.

Cool, I wasn't aware of this UI.

Is it compatible with 2.9 ? Any flaws compared to Axis or Gmoccapy ?

I personally haven't used it yet but it's well maintained. There are a number of simulation configurations that come with a 2.9 installation so you can have a look.

The probe wants to return to a position above the piece.

Anyway I can get it to not do that. I just want it to go to the piece fast, then slow and then back off.

The touch off works like this.

My parts are delicate and I cant have a probe wondering about.

I just want to position it close to an edge, press the touch and it touches and backs of again. No trying to make a path to some place it did start from.

Kind regards.
